6 Critical Components to Check After Race Day
1. Suspension & Steering Components
Inspect tie rods, heims, and spindles for bends, wear, or cracks. Look for play in steering and make sure your shocks haven’t leaked or blown a seal.
Impel Tip: Keep extra tie rods and heims in your trailer—don’t let one bent piece end your weekend.
2. Brake Pads & Rotors
Track conditions can be tough on brakes. Remove the wheels and inspect for uneven pad wear, hot spots, or cracking.
Recommended: PFC pads, Wilwood calipers, or replacement rotors from Impel.
3. Wheels & Tires
Check for curb rash, bent lips, or cracks. Re-measure stagger, and inspect beadlock rings if used.
4. Chassis Bolts & Fasteners
Double-check motor mounts, seat brackets, and rear-end brackets. Vibration can loosen even the best hardware.
🔧 Pro Tip: Mark bolts with torque stripes so you can quickly spot movement post-race.
5. Drive System: Chain, Axle, Bearings
Clean and lube your chain, check for tight spots, and ensure your sprocket bolts are tight. Spin the axle to check for bearing noise or resistance.
6. Fluids & Filters
Always drain your oil and check for metal. Change filters, top off coolant, and re-check your fuel system.
