We’re deep into summer racing—and if you’re like most drivers, your car has been through a few hot laps, tight battles, and maybe even a trip through the grass. The mid-season grind separates the weekend warriors from the championship chasers.
At Impel Motorsports, we’re here to keep you on track—literally. Here’s how to keep your Legend Car, Bandolero, or kart in winning shape through the toughest part of the season.
1. Refresh What Matters Most
The parts that work hardest are usually the first to fail. Take time between races to inspect and replace:
Chains & sprockets – look for stretching, rust, or uneven wear
Brake pads – if you’re losing pedal feel, check for heat glazing
Bearings – spin each hub; if it grinds or wobbles, replace it
Tie rods, spindles & heims – especially after contact or curbing
🛒 We stock replacement hardware kits, spindles, brake parts, and more—ready to ship fast so you don’t miss a weekend.
2. Manage Your Tires Wisely
Heat cycles and long green runs take a toll on your rubber. If your car suddenly won’t rotate like it did earlier in the year, chances are your tires are cooked.
Flip or rotate tires to extend life
Measure rollout/stagger weekly
Use chalk or temp paint to monitor contact patches
Don’t race on cords—call us to get on the next tire order list
🚨 Legend & Bandolero Tire Orders are open now—text or message us to reserve your set.
3. Recheck Gear and Engine Performance
Have lap times started to fall off? Feeling sluggish down the straight? Mid-summer is a great time to:
Rejet carbs for hot weather
Double-check gear ratios for new rubber or track changes
Run a compression test and inspect plugs
Swap fluids (especially if it’s been more than 2–3 race weekends)
Need help dialing in for a specific track? We can recommend gear combos and engine care kits that keep you sharp through the heat.
4. Update Your Setup Notes
Every race teaches you something. Take 10 minutes this week to review and update your setup log:
What changed? What worked? What didn’t?
Record tire pressures, stagger, gearing, and temps
Note how the track evolved throughout the night
Add driver feedback—“tight off,” “loose in,” etc.
This pays dividends as you head into fall races and championship weekends.
5. Stay Ahead of the Heat
Mid-summer races push engines—and drivers—to the limit. A few key checks can prevent disaster:
Keep coolers flushed and fans working
Check for boiling fuel (common in Bandos/Legends)
Insulate fuel lines and ignition systems as needed
Hydrate the driver—especially kids! Heat exhaustion is real
Have questions about cooling or vapor lock issues? We’ve helped dozens of drivers fix heat-related DNFs—we can help you too.
Final Lap
The middle of the season is where races—and championships—are won or lost. Staying ahead on maintenance now keeps you from falling behind in points later.
At Impel Motorsports, we’re not just selling parts—we’re supporting racers. Whether you need rebuild kits, crash spares, tire orders, or setup advice, we’re here to keep you rolling.
